A trench coat is always a great idea

Full stop. That’s what I should’ve added to the title but it looks weird so I kept it as it is. I’m sure by now every single one of us has understood the importance of a great trench. InStyle, Vogue and many style advisers have urged us for years to buy a classic trench because of its versatility and because it will never go out of style. Never ever. Funny, how a piece of clothing that was designed to keep soldiers warm by repelling the water while they were out on the battlefield is now a must-have in our wardrobe. Functionality determined the trench coat and yet it is a masterpiece of design.

That’s it for today’s history lesson, haha. I went for an all-classics look last weekend because a) the blue shirt I’m wearing in the pics was new, b) it was finally warm enough to wear my espadrilles which I bought last year in Atlanta (yes, I’m sentimental about these things) and c) it was not quite warm enough to leave the house without a coat and since the Maison Martin Margiela trench compliments EVERY outfit, it was a safe bet.

Plus, quick decisions are sometimes (not always though) the best ones. We wanted to leave the house fast because the weather was a pure bliss and we wanted to catch as much sun as possible. So I had to figure out fast what I wanted to wear. Another quick decision that day was made right outside the door when we decided to go to Roermond because the old town city centre is just so incredibly beautiful. Last fast-pass decision of the day ways me putting on bright pink lipstick because… Just because, really. I mean, its finally spring time! And it was a rebellious act against all the classics I wore, maybe the trench coat did not make me peaceful that day after all 😉 Happy Easter!
